Goal

The state should articulate consequences for teachers with unsatisfactory evaluations, including specifying that teachers with multiple unsatisfactory evaluations should be eligible for dismissal.

Analysis of Rhode Island's policies

Rhode Island's new Educator Evaluation System requires that teachers rated "ineffective or minimally effective" be placed on improvement plans. All teachers who receive two consecutive unsatisfactory evaluations will be dismissed.
