General Motors recently created quite a stir with their revelation that the price of every new car has to include about $1,500 to cover employees' health care costs. Not to equate cars with students, but there's news this week that roughly $900 of a district's per-pupil spending is going towards skyrocketing employee health care costs. The new survey by The Association of School Business Officials International reports that districts faced a nearly 10 percent increase in cost over the past year alone, offset by only a 2.3 percent funding increase.
