The American Association of State Colleges and Universities has just released Teacher Education: Scan of Issues, Roles, Activities, and Resources, an aptly-titled overview of the current state of affairs and controversies surrounding teacher policy. The report scans five key topics covering teacher preparation, licensure and certification, employment issues, professional development, and accountability. Without staking out a specific political angle, the text boils huge topics down to key issues and questions (which are helpfully bullet-pointed for maximum readability). We’re not sure who will read this other than wonks like us—maybe future teachers should—but whoever does will find a concise reference that maps out the dynamics of teacher quality.
