Nancy and Rich Kinder of Houston recently announced the new Kinder Excellence in Teaching Award. The award is designed to honor extraordinary teachers in underserved communities, and the winner will receive a $100,000 cash award. If that sounds uncommonly generous, well, that's because it is--in fact, it's "the largest unrestricted teacher award in U.S. history."
The Kinders have been granting awards to KIPP teachers since 2002, and they recently decided to implement a reward for non-KIPP folks; KIPP teachers are ineligible for this award. So if you know of any extraordinary teachers serving in underserved schools, feel free to click here and nominate them!
