Here's an excerpt from yesterday's news release from the Policy Innovators in Education (PIE) Network about the award just given to the National Council on Teacher Quality, an award for which we are most grateful:
Last night in Boston, as part of the PIE Network Annual Policy Summit, we celebrated our members' and partners' most significant accomplishments at the Eddies!--our annual awards ceremony recognizing the best in state education reform advocacy.
The Eddies! "academy," consisting of our members, funders, policy partners, and past summit attendees, voted to recognize our member and partner organizations in five different categories.
Congratulations to the 2013 Eddies! Award Winners...CATEGORY 4: FOR MOST ACTIONABLE RESEARCH
National Council on Teacher Quality in partnership with U.S. News and World Report: Putting a National Spotlight on the Quality of Our Nation's Education Schools
NCTQ's groundbreaking Teacher Prep Review, published by U.S. News and World Report, is the first-ever comprehensive evaluation of the programs that prepare the vast majority of U.S. teachers. It gives the quality of schools of education the same level of national scrutiny as other professional programs, like law and medicine. Facing down substantial resistance from higher education institutions, NCTQ's dissection of teacher preparation programs spurred many states to take action and/or review their teacher preparation policies and accountability systems.
