NCTQ would like to announce the addition of five new members to our Advisory Board. Readers will notice a heavy emphasis on teacher preparation, of clear importance given the recent launch of our national review of education schools.

First, we welcome David Chard, dean of the School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University, who brings with him an expertise in reading and math strategies for the early grades, special education and instructional methods for students with disabilities.

In addition, we are pleased to have Suzanne Wilson, professor and chair of the Department of Teacher Education at Michigan University, join us. Suzanne's work specializes in professional development for teachers, education policy and teacher learning.

We also welcome Barry Kauffman, former dean of Dominican University in California, who is also an expert in school-improvement efforts. Recently, he was the Director of School Assistance and Intervention at the Alameda County Office of Education in California.

We are also pleased to welcome Tom Lasley, Executive Director of EDvention, to the board. Tom has a deep knowledge of STEM issues, as EDvention is a collaborative dedicated to increasing science, technology, engineering and math talent in the greater Dayton, Ohio region. Tom also was most recently dean of the School of Education and Allied Professions at the University of Dayton.

None of these individuals is new to NCTQ; all four have served on the technical panel for the national education school review.

Finally, welcome to Celine Coggins, founder and CEO of Teach Plus. As a former teacher, Celine currently works to help keep effective teachers in the profession and expand teachers' impact as leaders in their schools and in national, state, and district policy.
