WHAT: A forum sponsored by REL Southwest (Regional Educational Laboratory at Edvance Research) featuring professors Robert Costrell and Michael Podgursky, leading experts on the economics of teacher retirement systems. The forum will address three important questions:

  • Can retirement benefits be used to improve teacher recruitment and retention?
  • Are retirement systems as they exist now, including the healthcare obligations, economically viable?
  • What are the equity issues for teachers in retirement systems?
