The editorial entitled It's Time We Teachers Threw Off Our Mantle of Martyrdom in the March 2008 TQB contained a misstatement: Smaller class sizes do not only improve the performance of students already performing at a high level. Smaller class sizes in the primary grades improve the performance of all students, but may disproportionately benefit students performing at a relatively high level.
