Rewarding some incredibly persistent and well organized high school students (we met them--an awesome bunch!), the Boston School Board recently approved a student-led proposal that will allow students to anonymously evaluate their teachers.

Appropriately, the Board won't link what students have to say to a teacher's formal evaluation. The evaluations will only be viewed by the teacher and school principal. We wonder why not send these opinions up the hierarchy to central office? What high school students have to say is absolutely relevant and incredibly useful. Students shouldn't think they hold their teacher's future in their hands, but there's no reason why other adults ought not to know what's on students' minds.
